Sorry to have to say this, but, not impressed. The price was over the edge & the DVD, well, come on; scrambled eggs? If grandma has no old cook books ( mine is long gone) check out garage sales. I found a gret set of 4 books in perfect conditiion from 1946 ( country Cook Book) for 4 bucks. I am now the most popular coop

If you like Gordon Ramsay (or even if you don't know who he is) but think his recipes are too hard for a normal household cook, this book is for you! He takes some really simple dishes and makes them look like something prepared in a 3 Michelin Star restaurant. He has pictures to show how the dishes should look for presentation purposes and he's very succinct and to the point. He also takes more elegant recipes and makes them so it's food that we can do at home. Well worth the purchase!!

The cookbook has good recipes and the processes involved in making the recipes are short and simple; however, the book lacks organizations. There is a very simple table of contents and the index is organized by the name of the recipe and not the ingredients.
This book is more for the coffee table and not something to cook out of regularly. Since the book is not organized by main ingredients it is hard to say... I want to make a pork dish... and then look up pork dishes.
This book requires you to be more flexible. Many of the recipes call for ingredient that are somewhat difficult to get of hold of ie. venison, pheasant, star anise.
Also the book does not have very many recipes. It is full of pictures and 1 recipe takes up at least a full page. The lack of recipes makes the book inflexible.
As someone learning to cook, I would like a myriad of recipes so that I can cook with what I have available or ingredients which are easy to find.

There's a great variety in this book (GR makes it easy). We've tried several different recipes and some are keepers. There's also a lot of fluff and filler pages. Too many pictures not of the food but of gordon posing, etc (yawn). BUT! Some great (useable) recipes in here and they aren't too complicated at all - they do take a little skill, but very do-able.
There's not a lot of attention to detail in this book (some of it is a bit vague, and some of the instructions are actually a little 'off'). Also the dvd has gordon making five of the recipes which is nice (although one of them isn't even in the book, but something similar is - again, attention to detail lacks. This book was really the work of others AND gordon and felt too much like a 'side-project' than a work of passion.
Bottom line - Great cook book for the money (at least on amazon it is).Don't expect a masterpiece, but a useable book nonetheless. It seems that if you are fairly new to cooking and want something practical - THIS - is maybe the best one.
Thanks gordon! This one will stay IN the kitchen.
*By three stars, I meant 'better than average', not 'less than good'*

I bought this book (2) as a Christmas gift for my daughters. The oldest opened hers first, she thought is was great since we watch Gordon's shows every Sunday morning. My other daughter gave a disappointed Ooooo...but screamed when she opened hers.
The recipes look very easy, no elaborate directions and ingredients can be easily substituted if originals are not available. Love the step by step layout of the recipes. The photos are great of the dishes too. My daughters loved the bonus DVD.
